The three local LNP candidates all look to have secured their seats … although the battle in Flynn is much closer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has conceded defeat and congratulated incoming PM Anthony Albanese.<\/p>\n

In an address to a Liberal Party gathering in Sydney late on Saturday night, the PM said it had been a difficult night for Liberals and Nationals around the country.<\/p>\n

Mr Morrison said he had spoken to the incoming Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.<\/p>\n

Australians had delivered their verdict and he wished the incoming government all the best.<\/p>\n

Mr Morrison said he would be handing over the leadership of the Liberals at the next party room meeting to ensure the party can be taken forward under new leadership.<\/p>\n

However, he would continue in Parliament as the MP for Cook.<\/p>\n

At 11:00pm on Saturday, the make-up of the new Labor Government remained unclear, with a number of seats too close to call.<\/p>\n

However, the fate of the three electorates that cross the South Burnett look to have been decided.<\/p>\n

NB: The figures below are from the official Australian Electoral Commission website at 11:30pm, Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maranoa<\/span> <\/strong><\/h3>\n

In Maranoa, LNP sitting member David Littleproud had secured a projected two-party preferred vote of more than 70 per cent, ahead of One Nation candidate Mike Kelly.<\/p>\n

  • Dave Kerrigan (ALP) – 10,833, 16.05%, -0.59%<\/li>\n
  • Nathan McDonald (UAP) – 5040, 7.47%, +3.73%<\/li>\n
  • Ellisa Parker (Qld Greens) – 3373, 5.00%, +1.54%<\/li>\n
  • Mike Kelly (One Nation) – 8166, 12.10%, -2.98%<\/li>\n
  • Brett Tunbridge (AFP) – 778, 1.15%, +1.15%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Flynn <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

    In Flynn, the battle between newcomer Colin Boyce (LNP) – the former LNP member for the State seat of Callide who put up his hand after sitting LNP member Ken O’Dowd announced his retirement – and Gladstone mayor Matt Burnett (ALP) was much closer.<\/p>\n

    However, the Australian Electoral Commission’s projected two-party preferred vote had Boyce ahead with 53.31 per cent, from Burnett with 46.69 per cent:<\/p>\n

    • Tanya Wieden (UAP) – 4779, 7.32%, +3.31%<\/li>\n
    • Colin Boyce (LNP) – 22,188, 33.97%, -1.89%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Wide Bay<\/span> <\/strong><\/h3>\n

      In Wide Bay, sitting LNP member Llew O’Brien had secured a clear lead on the two-party preferred vote with 61.87 per cent, ahead of Geoff Williams (ALP) with 38.13 per cent.<\/p>\n
