There’s been a few changes lately at a local chiropractor’s clinic, but one thing hasn’t changed … the smiling face of Joy Woods.<\/p>\n

Scott Young recently took over the clinic located in the historic Queenslander on the corner of Haly and William streets in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

He has rebranded it from “Barham Chiropractic” to “Kingaroy Chiropractic & Wellness” but Joy – who has been greeting clients at the business for 34 years – isn’t going anywhere.<\/p>\n

“I have her chained to the desk!” Scott joked.<\/p>\n

Joy began working at the practice in 1988.<\/p>\n

The chiropractor back then was David Hodal and the clinic was located in the small arcade that formerly ran behind what is now Prices Plus in Glendon Street.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 1991, David moved the clinic to the Queenslander located at 221 Haly Street.<\/p>\n

At the time there was an internal staircase and a stained glass window which were believed to have come from the old National Bank in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Downstairs was an open area where musicians used to practice.<\/p>\n

These days the staircase has long gone and the music area has been transformed into treatment rooms, but the stained glass window remains.<\/p>\n

In 1996, Chris and Jane Barham bought the practice and ran it first as “Wellness Chiropractic” and then as “Barham Chiropractic Kingaroy”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joy, who grew up in Elgin Vale, worked her way through all these changes.<\/p>\n

When she first started, she was taking bookings in pencil in a large appointment book, a different coloured pencil for each different type of appointment.<\/p>\n

The Barhams introduced the first computer in 1996, and Joy quickly had to get her head around technology that she had never used before.<\/p>\n

Over the years, she has seen multiple technology upgrades – and new booking systems – but she’s taken it all in her stride.<\/p>\n

And she’s not thinking of retiring yet …<\/p>\n

“I enjoy it. I will keep on working while I can and feel I have something to contribute,” she said.\u00a0“I’m happy doing what I do.”<\/p>\n

Another familiar face for clients at Kingaroy Chiropractic is Doug Clarke, the second chiropractor who has been part of the clinic since 2003.<\/p>\n

But there are some new faces, too.<\/p>\n

A massage therapist has joined the team as well as a physiotherapist who will be working there five days a week.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Chiropractic & Wellness will be hosting an Open Day from 9:00am to noon on Saturday, June 4, so South Burnett residents can come along and meet the allied health team and tour the new space.<\/strong><\/p>\n
