Nanango Visitor Information Centre … consultants have been engaged by the South Burnett Regional Council to review the future operations of the region’s network of VICs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett Regional Council has engaged Toowoomba-based consultants Tilma Group to conduct a a review of Council’s Visitor Information Centre (VIC) network.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Visitor Servicing Review, which began this week, will consider the changing needs of visitors, industry and the local community.<\/p>\n

The review will make recommendations about the ideal “visitor servicing” model for Council.<\/p>\n

It is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.<\/p>\n

Tilma Group will speak to volunteers, Council staff, Councillors, tourism operators and industry.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cVisitor servicing is the face of tourism, enabling tourists to be met by a local and to share stories of our region. We expect the review to ask questions and bring back solutions to shape a number of options for consideration in our future,\u201d Cr Kirstie Schumacher said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will consider the way tourists travel and develop strategies to take advantage of industry trends and opportunities. The review offers a way to consider changing needs due to the influence of technology and the way people access information and make travel decisions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is about looking at the resources we have, what we do well, the gaps in our current model, and how we may be able to do things better.\u201d<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council previously prepared a report<\/a><\/strong> (2.4MB PDF) in-house in 2019 discussing the future of the VIC network, after conducting surveys of VIC volunteers and tourism operators in 2018.<\/p>\n
