The Salvation Army’s annual Red Shield Appeal is returning to the streets this year, and the local corps is looking for volunteers who can help.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said the Salvos were calling on South Burnett communities to get involved, with all funds raised locally staying local to help ensure no one was left in need in the community.<\/p>\n

The Red Shield Appeal is the Salvos’ flagship fundraising appeal and this year is aiming to raise $5.4 million across Queensland, including $15,000 in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said the Salvos needed community members to volunteer or support their local Red Shield Appeal in any way they could during May.<\/p>\n

The annual doorknock weekend is scheduled to be held on May 28-29.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re so grateful to the South Burnett communities which have always rallied together and supported the Red Shield Appeal,” Captain Tim Brown, from the South Burnett Corps said.<\/p>\n

“This year is no different. We need the help of community members more than ever as we continue to support those who have felt the devastating impacts of the past couple of years.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the generous support during last year\u2019s Red Shield Appeal, we were able to support families and children in need throughout the year and especially at Christmas time with gifts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Volunteers who can help in the South Burnett should phone (07) 4162-5246.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot do what we do without you. If you have the means, please consider becoming a volunteer or donating to the Red Shield Appeal this year. Your generosity and support will help us to leave no one in need,\u201d Captain Brown said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
