UPDATE: The Show Committee cancelled the show on Saturday morning. The Pavilion will remain open.<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n

Earlier:<\/b><\/p>\n

The rain has thrown a huge spanner in the works for the organisers of this weekend’s Blackbutt Show.<\/p>\n

On Thursday night, the Show Committee announced that entry to the show on Saturday would be free.<\/p>\n

The popular woodchopping competition – an event for which Blackbutt is famous – will still be going ahead from 9:00am to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

The canteen will be running all day and into the night, and the Pavilion is already filled with exhibits.<\/p>\n

At night, there will be music and the bar will be open.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Patrons will be able to relax in the undercover area.<\/p>\n

The Ute Muster on Friday night, the Cattle and Horse sections, the motocross show, amusement rides and the fireworks have all been cancelled.<\/p>\n

The Dog Show has been postponed to a date to be fixed.<\/p>\n

The “Black Friday” Blue Light Disco scheduled from 6:00pm-9:00pm on Friday night is still going ahead ($5 entry).<\/p>\n

Blackbutt Show Society president Charles Gibling said the committee was “devastated” that the weather had forced events to be cancelled.<\/p>\n

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the Blackbutt Show in 2020 and 2021, although a woodchopping competition was later held at the showgrounds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
