{"id":317509,"date":"2022-05-03T20:24:59","date_gmt":"2022-05-03T10:24:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=317509"},"modified":"2022-06-02T12:39:07","modified_gmt":"2022-06-02T02:39:07","slug":"nature-takes-over-kingaroy-gallery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2022\/05\/03\/nature-takes-over-kingaroy-gallery\/","title":{"rendered":"Nature Takes Over Kingaroy Gallery"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_317510\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-317510\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220429gallery1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-317510 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220429gallery1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220429gallery1.jpg 740w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220429gallery1-300x186.jpg 300w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220429gallery1-269x167.jpg 269w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220429gallery1-285x177.jpg 285w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220429gallery1-340x211.jpg 340w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220429gallery1-263x163.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-317510\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Leonie Chinn with one of works which features a giant honey ant &#8230; she chose the work because of Kingaroy&#8217;s connection with ants!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>May 3, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Artist Leonie Chinn has returned to Kingaroy Art Gallery, but this time she has filled the main gallery with a solo exhibition of recent works.<\/p>\n<p>Leonie was last in Kingaroy 12 months ago as part of the &#8220;All The Bees Are [Not] Dying&#8221; exhibition, a collection of works by seven Brisbane artists capturing their reactions to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>This time around, Leonie has presented works that explore the destructive consequences of a human-centred point of view on the natural world.<\/p>\n<p>There are insects and landscapes, including a view from &#8216;Bethany&#8217; painted after her stay there last year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; &#8216;Bethany&#8217; was gorgeous and was so rich in history,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Leonie said her works depicting &#8220;other earth beings&#8221; reflected the writings by Australian environmental philosopher Val Plumwood.<\/p>\n<p>Plumwood, who died in 2008, explored the separation between humans and nature, and the idea embedded in many cultures which viewed nature as simply a resource.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In Gallery 3, Wooroolin artist Diana Bolton has an exhibition entitled &#8220;My Front Door&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The birds and flowers are inspired by the world around her.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;During the last flood I started painting the wetland birds that inhabited our place; ducks, herons, rails, coots and the swans, spoonbills, magpie geese and many more that had migrated to the water. This started my journey on painting birds,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Diana also has a display of hand-painted silk scarves on show, which &#8211; amazingly &#8211; she pops into the microwave to
