Images from the newly installed weather radar near Taroom are now live on the Bureau of Meteorology’s website and BOM Weather app.<\/p>\n

BOM spokesperson Dr Peter Stone said the weather radar would assist people across the Fitzroy, Condamine and Burnett River catchments to track rain, wind, storms and severe weather.<\/p>\n

South Burnett towns are covered by both the 256km and 512km composite radar loops.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Dual-polarised Doppler technology weather radars are one of the best tools for observing real-time rainfall and wind conditions across large areas, and we know this information is highly valuable for communities, particularly primary producers,” Dr Stone said.<\/p>\n

Dr Stone said the new radar was one of four new radars being delivered for Queensland, with $77.2 million funding from the Federal Government.<\/p>\n

An existing radar in Moree, NSW, will also be moved to provide increased coverage into southern Queensland.<\/p>\n
