The South Burnett Race Club’s traditional Anzac Day races went ahead at the Wondai track on Monday afternoon, despite the intermittent showers.<\/p>\n

The grey skies didn’t deter punters who filled the betting ring or entrants in the Fashions of the Field contest which had a \u201cPoppies and Pearls\u201d theme.<\/p>\n

And the rain didn’t affect the sand track, which was officially rated as “good”.<\/p>\n

The six races attracted good fields.<\/p>\n

Nanango trainer Glenn Richardson just missed out in the prestigious Wondai Diggers Cup, bringing home the second and third placegetters. The cup was taken home by Toowoomba-trained Hard Stride, ridden by Paul Hamblin.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on the track, jockeys Todd Banks and Justin Stanley escaped serious injuries after falling from their mounts in Race 2.<\/p>\n

Eddiegato, with Banks on board, shifted out abruptly at the 100m mark despite the best efforts of its jockey, colliding with Attackabeel.<\/p>\n

Neither horse was hurt but Banks was excused from his rides for the rest of the meeting after injuring his hand.<\/p>\n
