Are you friendly, motivated and passionate about the South Burnett, and what our\u00a0community has to offer?\u00a0Visitor Information Centres around the South Burnett are on a recruitment drive for much-needed volunteers.<\/p>\n

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said COVID-19 had depleted the ranks of volunteers leading to occasional closures which\u00a0affected the promotion of the region\u2019s attractions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The Council is encouraging a new wave of volunteers to apply, even for a couple of hours a\u00a0week,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“People of all ages, men and women, are invited to play a part. Volunteering has many\u00a0rewards including making new friends, learning a lot about the area and interaction with a\u00a0variety of visitors that contributes to the community.”<\/p>\n

Duties include providing residents and visitors with details of key tourist attractions and\u00a0venues and information on Council\u2019s facilities within the region.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said volunteering at the VICs was also a way to meet Centrelink obligations for volunteer work\u00a0hours.<\/p>\n

The VICs are located in\u00a0Kingaroy,\u00a0Nanango, Wondai and Murgon.<\/p>\n

Cr Kirstie Schumacher praised the work done by volunteers to ensure all visitors go home\u00a0with a fond memory of the South Burnett.<\/p>\n
