April 26, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ballot draw for the upcoming Federal Election was conducted on Friday following the close of nominations.<\/p>\n

There are 24 candidates running for office across the three Federal Electorates which dissect the South Burnett region.<\/p>\n

In Flynn<\/strong> – which includes Boondooma, Durong South, Hivesville,\u00a0Proston, Tingoora and Wondai – there are seven candidates.<\/p>\n

Colin Boyce, the LNP selection following the retirement of sitting MP Ken O’Dowd, has drawn the last spot on the ballot.<\/p>\n

His key opponent, the ALP’s Matt Burnett, has drawn the coveted number 1 position.<\/p>\n

In Maranoa<\/strong> – which includes Benarkin, Blackbutt, Gordonbrook, Kingaroy, Kumbia, Memerambi, Nanango, Wooroolin and Yarraman – sitting member David Littleproud (LNP) is in the top position.<\/p>\n

The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party, more familiar to NSW voters, are also running a candidate in Maranoa.<\/p>\n

In Wide Bay<\/strong> – which includes Byee, Cherbourg, Goomeri, Kilkivan, Moffatdale, Murgon, Tansey, Widgee and Woolooga – sitting member Llew O’Brien (LNP) is in the middle of a field of 10 candidates.<\/p>\n

The top spot in Wide Bay has been drawn by an Independent, Kelli Jacobi.<\/p>\n

The LNP, ALP, Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, the Queensland Greens and Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party are running candidates in all three electorates.<\/p>\n

As well, Independents have nominated in Flynn and Wide Bay but not in Maranoa.<\/p>\n

The election will be held on May 21.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Applications for postal votes will close on May 18.<\/p>\n

Early polling will start on May 9.<\/p>\n

Voting is compulsory.<\/p>\n
