Ergon Energy completed a major upgrade of the high-voltage network in Kingaroy at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Portable generators were positioned in Youngman Street and adjoining streets to maintain the power supply to most customers while local workers – supported by crews from Toowoomba – replaced the power lines and made other improvements to the West Kingaroy feeder line.<\/p>\n

An Ergon spokesman said the project was completed on schedule and all customers were reinstated to mains power yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n

However, soon afterwards, about 850 customers supplied from the feeder line had their power interrupted for half an hour after a magpie flew into the network, causing arcing that led the protection system to cut power as a safety precaution.<\/p>\n

Crews investigated the incident, but no repairs were required before power could be safely restored.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
