Sunday’s horrific crash on Barkers Creek Flat is not only a tragedy for the families involved – and emergency services workers – but has also created a headache for South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

The blue Commodore snapped a pole in half and also smashed equipment used to pump water to Nanango.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that one of the three bores which supply water to Nanango was damaged in the crash.<\/p>\n

However, Council has assured Nanango residents the town’s water supply is secure.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Investigations are ongoing in co-operation with Council\u2019s\u00a0insurers,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Police are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash, in which a\u00a031-year-old Nanango man and a 20-year-old Tara man died.<\/p>\n

Initial investigations suggest the vehicle that crashed may have been chasing another vehicle however it is not believed to have been an incident of road rage.<\/p>\n
