The young bloods ran away with it in the end in the Under 30s v Over 30s Timbertowners rugby league game played at Blackbutt last Saturday.<\/p>\n

The final score was 36-18 in favour of the Under 30s, despite constant barracking from ground announcer Cr Gavin Jones and cheers from the crowd.<\/p>\n

Referee Arch Early also managed to see a lot of strips in favour of the old boys, but it still wasn’t quite enough …<\/p>\n

Up to 60 players took to the field at various times during the match.<\/p>\n

The Under 30s \/ Over 30s game was a revival of a Blackbutt-Yarraman Timbertowners tradition, and also marked a revival for the club which is returning to the South Burnett competition this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A large crowd turned out at Ian “Bunny” Pearce Oval for the “Footy Fever” day.<\/p>\n

The Easter Bunny even dropped in at one point for the kids.<\/p>\n

There was a jersey auction after the match and many of the crowd stayed around to party into the evening.<\/p>\n

The big day was a fundraiser for the Blackbutt Timbertowners who will be entering junior teams (Under 6s to Under 12s) into the 2022 SBRL competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This will be the first time the green and white strip has been seen on local footy fields for about nine years.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the Timbertowners won’t be fielding an A Grade side this year but club president Jack Argent said they planned to continue building up the juniors so a senior team could be a force in the future.<\/p>\n

The Timbertowners are still keen for more junior players to join their ranks.<\/p>\n

Training is held at Bunny Pearce Oval from 4:30pm on Fridays.<\/p>\n

Rugby League fans should head to Wondai Sportsground on Saturday for another great afternoon of action.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 1:15pm, the action will kick off with the Open Women’s 47th Battalion Wide Bay Squad Trials. ‘<\/p>\n

This will be followed at 3:00pm with Round 7 of the Mal Meninga Cup, which will see the Wide Bay Bulls play the Ipswich Jets.\u00a0 These are some of the best young footballers in Queensland who could become the NRL stars of the future.<\/p>\n

At 4:45pm, the Wondai Wolves will play the Murgon Mustangs in a pre-season A-grade warm-up match.<\/p>\n

A canteen and bar will be running at the grounds.<\/p>\n
