South Burnett Regional Council staff members swapped their desks for fundraising at a special breakfast in Kingaroy on Thursday morning to help BlazeAid.<\/p>\n

BlazeAid volunteers are currently maintaining a camp at Murgon and sending out teams to help repair farms in the northern part of the region damaged by floods in January and February.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said they were surprised by the good number of people who had turned up to support the morning.<\/p>\n

There were burgers to buy, a lucky numbers board (with art prizes donated by Council staff member Ina Patterson) and a lolly jar guessing competition.<\/p>\n

Special guest speaker was Silverleaf farmer Marg Enkelmann who had a “front row seat” to the latest floods.<\/p>\n

The Enkelmanns’ property was badly hit by the 2011 and 2013 floods, but luckily escaped major damage in the latest downpours.<\/p>\n

The family raised their house after the last event.<\/p>\n

Marg told southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0this time she simply sat on the verandah and watched as the water rose up into her yard.<\/p>\n

“It was fairly close. I was watching as things floated by. There’s another tree branch, there’s a drum …”<\/p>\n

Marg said she was happy to help at the brekkie as BlazeAid had helped them out in the past floods and she was very grateful for their assistance.<\/p>\n

UPDATE: A Council spokesperson said on Friday the Kingaroy breakfast raised more than $1100 for BlazeAid.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Council will be hosting more breakfasts later this month to support BlazeAid\u2019s efforts.<\/strong><\/p>\n
