RACQ LifeFlight Rescue received an unexpected boost when a $10,000 cheque was handed over in Kingaroy on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy residents Leanne and Barry Krosch had told the LifeFlight Foundation they would be donating $5000 to the charity which supports LifeFlight flights.<\/p>\n

But when the Foundation’s philanthropy relationship manager Karen McIntyre turned up, she was stunned to see the cheque was double the amount she had expected.<\/p>\n

Barry told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> the couple had decided to increase the donation because of the number of helicopter flights they had been hearing lately coming in and out of Kingaroy Hospital.<\/p>\n

In 2021, the Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight helicopter flew a total of 551 missions, many of them into the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

The Toowoomba-based chopper, which also services the South Burnett, flew 693 missions.<\/p>\n

Karen said the South Burnett region was one of the busiest for RACQ LifeFlight.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Men’s Shed fundraiser for LifeFlight is on this Saturday at the club’s grounds near Kingaroy Airport.<\/p>\n

The “Dinner Under The Stars” will be held from 3:00pm until late.<\/p>\n

Tickets are available from Kingaroy Office Central at 163 Haly Street, Kingaroy, or purchased online<\/a><\/strong> for a small booking fee.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson told southburnett.com.au that 200 tickets had already been sold, but the Men’s Shed had been hoping for more.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for young people aged 12 to 18 and $10 for children aged 5 to 12 (under 5s are free).<\/p>\n
