There was a new venue – and more stalls – at the South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club’s third annual gem show on the weekend.<\/p>\n

The two-day show was held at the Wondai Sportsground, the same venue as the Wondai Garden Expo which will be held on April 16-17.<\/p>\n

Stalls were spread along the edge of the oval and inside the Lions Pavilion.<\/p>\n

Treasurer Paul van Schyndel\u00a0 told southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0more than 30 stalls had booked in and some latecomers had also turned up on the morning.<\/p>\n

Many of the exhibitors had camped overnight at the sportsground.<\/p>\n

Stalls featured everything from precious and semi-precious gem stones, in rough or polished form, to jewellery and fossils.<\/p>\n

There was also a plethora of “witches’ fingers” (ie. quartz crystals) to keep the keenest alternative medicine practitioner happy.<\/p>\n

At one stand, junior rock hounds could purchase small, uncut thunder eggs and then watch as they were expertly split on a spinning saw to reveal their colourful interiors of agate or chalcedony.<\/p>\n

There were also lucky door prizes to be won plus lucky dips and raffles.<\/p>\n
