The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cherbourg and the South Burnett has spiked this week, in line with the recent trend across Queensland.<\/p>\n

Cherbourg Council announced on Wednesday afternoon there were\u00a0 currently 23 active cases in isolation in the Cherbourg community.<\/p>\n

Queensland Health figures released on Thursday morning show another 10 new cases in the South Burnett Regional Council area over the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Since March 1, 93 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the South Burnett, taking the total since the pandemic began to 952.<\/p>\n

Across Queensland, 7289 new cases were announced by Queensland Health on Thursday morning, and five more deaths.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of these deaths was reported in the Darling Downs Health region, taking the toll to 21.<\/p>\n

The total number of deaths in Queensland is now 737, with all but seven occurring since the State border was reopened on December 13 last year.<\/p>\n

A total of 5962 people have died with COVID across Australia.<\/p>\n

The number of confirmed active cases in Queensland, as at 7:00pm on March 30, was 58,509, although the true figure is probably much higher as some people are not reporting the results of positive antigen tests, and some people with mild symptoms are not getting tested.<\/p>\n

southburnett.com.au has been keeping track of some basic statistics for local Council areas since the re-opening of the State border on December 13.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These statistics, from Queensland Health, show the total number of confirmed positive cases per Local Government Area since the pandemic began in January 2020.<\/p>\n

They are NOT the total of current ACTIVE cases but demonstrate how the virus has spread recently throughout the local community.<\/p>\n

We have taken snapshots on Dec 13, Dec 21 and daily since December 29.<\/p>\n

                NB. Data is reported by Queensland Health daily but can vary over time due to case reviews. When we took the first snapshots, Cherbourg LGA had not been added to the list by Qld Health as no cases had been recorded there. From December 31, data is current to 7:00pm the previous day.\u00a0Numbers for all regions must also be considered underestimated. Not everyone who has tested positive using a Rapid Antigen Test has reported their result to Queensland Health. Not everyone who has had a mild dose of the disease has been tested.
