March 24, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council has authorised temporary repairs to begin on the South Burnett Rail Trail, which was badly damaged in the recent floods.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said multiple sections of the rail trail were damaged between Wondai and Murgon, and between Murgon and the Goomeri boundary.<\/p>\n

These sections are closed.<\/p>\n

A local contractor has been appointed to repair the Murgon-Goomeri section with works to begin immediately.<\/p>\n

These should be completed by the end of the month, subject to further rain delays.<\/p>\n

Council work crews have already begun repairing sections\u00a0between Wondai and Murgon. These are expected to be completed by the end of the month.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Once all work is completed, the South Burnett section of the Kilkivan Kingaroy Rail Trail will fully reopen, with caution to be observed by all users,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“Permanent repairs will be conducted at a future date, subject to budget allocation and following investigations into available funding.<\/p>\n

“Temporary repairs are being paid for by Council, with other projects being delayed based on priority and community expectations.<\/p>\n
