Toowoomba Regional Council has partnered with Land for Wildlife South East Queensland to relaunch the local Land for Wildlife program.<\/p>\n

Cr Tim McMahon said the collaboration was welcome news to residents who previously enjoyed the benefits of membership.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrevious Land for Wildlife members have voiced the need for the program to be reinstated, so we\u2019re pleased to step in and manage it from now,\u201d Cr McMahon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTRC is joining LFWSEQ as an affiliate council, so we will be funding and overseeing the local LFW program with an external provider engaged to conduct property assessments, site visits and workshops.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe local LFW program was most recently managed by Southern Queensland Landscapes but it has been some years since landowners could receive private property protection support through the Land for Wildlife program.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur region is home to beautiful, diverse open spaces, so seeing the program reinstated is a great outcome to help protect our natural environment for generations to come.<\/p>\n

\u201cLand for Wildlife is a voluntary program that provides one-on-one support to landholders to help them responsibly manage wildlife habitats on private properties.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy becoming a member, landholders can learn about native plants, animals and ecosystems and receive advice on managing weeds and pest animals effectively.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone has a role to play in caring for our land and protecting its future.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s completely free to become a member, so I encourage everyone who meets the eligibility requirements to consider taking part.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re asking previous LFW members to re-enrol by completing a quick and easy online registration form.<\/p>\n

\u201cMemberships won\u2019t be extended to new participants until July 1; however, landholders can express their interest in joining the program via the website.\u201d<\/p>\n
