South Burnett residents are being invited to have their say on the future of Kingaroy\u2019s Memorial Park and the W.J. Lang Memorial Pool.<\/p>\n

Council has begun developing a Master Plan to guide future development of the the park and swimming pool complex.<\/p>\n

Mayor Brett Otto said the Council was committed to “investing in the things that matter to our community”.<\/p>\n

“Memorial Park and the pool provide an opportunity to develop a space that will enhance the liveability of our communities,” he said.<\/p>\n

“The park and pool have an important history and hold valuable significance for our community.<\/p>\n

“The land was donated by Mr A. Youngman in 1919 to be used as a public park and war memorial site, and our swimming pool was the first Olympic (size) swimming pool built in Queensland.”<\/p>\n

The Mayor said Council wanted to invest in the site to ensure it continued to serve the region for decades to come.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“It will be important that we balance this special history with creating a contemporary and attractive space that our community want to visit and are proud of,” he said.<\/p>\n

Sport and leisure planning consultants, Otium Planning Group, is leading a team to assist in developing the Master Plan.<\/p>\n

“We want to hear from our community to understand what they would like to see at the park and pool in the future,” Mayor Otto said.<\/p>\n

“A comprehensive community engagement approach will be undertaken to ensure residents and community groups have ample opportunity to provide input.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“This will include meetings with key stakeholders, workshops with representatives from local schools, focus groups, interviews with park users and a community survey.”<\/p>\n

An online survey is now available linked to Council\u2019s website<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Residents can also express their interest in contributing to the project by emailing Council<\/b><\/a> or phoning (07) 4189-9100.<\/p>\n

Once the initial consultation and planning phase has concluded, conceptual designs will be developed for the park and pool, followed by further community consultations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
