UPDATE:<\/b> Police are seeking public assistance to trace the movements of two people and a vehicle after their bodies were located in Gordonbrook Dam about 3:30pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The identities of the couple are yet to be confirmed however they are believed to be a local man aged in his fifties and local woman aged in her late forties.<\/p>\n

Detectives, tracing their movements, are seeking public assistance with officers appealing for anyone who saw their white 2004 Holden Commodore station wagon parked in the picnic area of Gordonbrook Dam.<\/p>\n

The vehicle is believed to have been there since February 22.<\/p>\n

Anyone who saw the vehicle or has further information is urged to immediately contact police.<\/p>\n

EARLIER:<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

Police are investigating the discovery of two bodies found floating in Gordonbrook Dam about 3:30pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n

A kayaker raised the alarm after spotting the bodies about five metres from the shore.<\/p>\n

They are believed to be that of an adult man and woman. The bodies were tied together and are believed to have been in the dam for several weeks.<\/p>\n

A crime scene was initially declared while detectives began their investigations.<\/p>\n

Emergency services assisted with retrieving the bodies on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy and Murgon detectives are working to confirm the identities of the pair and the circumstances of their deaths, but it is believed they were both South Burnett residents.<\/p>\n

A post mortem will be conducted in coming days.<\/p>\n

There is no further information at this time.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council released a statement on Saturday night, informing residents that Kingaroy’s water supply will be switched to 100 per cent Boondooma water:<\/b><\/p>\n

We wish to advise that Council has only just been made aware of the two bodies found this afternoon at Gordonbrook Dam.<\/em><\/p>\n

At this time Council is not in receipt of sufficient information to make a formal statement, and we also recognise that as there is an ongoing police investigation, it would not be appropriate to comment.<\/em><\/p>\n

In response to queries on water quality, Council undertakes regular testing of the water supply, both raw and treated water from Gordonbrook.<\/em><\/p>\n

This monitoring ensures all water meets health guidelines before it is let into reticulation system.<\/em><\/p>\n

In recognition of this issue, Council has this evening ensured the water supply from Gordonbrook will temporarily cease and will take 100 per cent supply from Boondooma Dam.<\/em><\/p>\n
