Can Matilda change her destiny?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Roald Dahl’s “Matilda The Musical JR.” will be coming to Kingaroy later this year in a special production put on by students from St Mary’s Catholic College.<\/p>\n

Based on the much-loved book \u201cMatilda\u201d – and adapted from the award-winning full-length musical – Matilda The Musical JR. tells the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her destiny.<\/p>\n

She lives with cruel parents who find her to be a nuisance, a little worm and a bore. When Matilda enters her first term at school, she captures the attention of Miss Honey, a kind teacher, and the two form a wonderful friendship.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the school is ruled by a tempestuous and mean headmistress named Miss Trunchbull who hates children and delivers cruel and unjust punishments to all her charges.<\/p>\n

Will Matilda’s cleverness and courage be enough to withstand the reign of Miss Trunchbull?<\/p>\n

St Mary’s will be hosting three performances in the school’s Maryknoll centre on September 9 (6:30pm) and September 10 (2:00pm and 6:30pm).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The full-length show opened on the West End in 2011 and made its Broadway premiere in 2013.<\/p>\n

It earned seven Olivier Awards, including \u201cBest New Musical,\u201d and five Tony awards.<\/p>\n
