The Kingaroy Local Ambulance Committee has handed over more equipment to local ambos in a bid to make their jobs that little bit easier.<\/p>\n

The group applied for a Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant in 2021 and received $23,916.<\/p>\n

The group used the money to buy a Hovermatt Lift, HoverJack and accessories ($12,154); a Ferno Venice power chair ($9620) and 20 Leatherman Raptor shears ($2142).<\/p>\n

The equipment was handed over to a grateful Kingaroy QAS officer-in-\u200bcharge Mei-Lin Dean on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

She said the Hovermatt Lift was a first for the Kingaroy station and would make lifting patients a lot easier. It can handle weights of up to 544kg.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hovermatt will allow paramedics to safely lift individuals who have fallen without gathering a lift team.<\/p>\n

The HoverJack consists of four chambers that are inflated sequentially to comfortably lift individuals from the floor to bed or stretcher height while lying down.<\/p>\n

The power chair assists in moving patients up and down stairs, and will be used in the station’s patient transport vehicle.<\/p>\n

The Leatherman shears will be issued to individual paramedics and can be used to cut seatbelts etc in emergency situations.<\/p>\n

Paramedics would hand them back to the Kingaroy Station if they were transferred.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy LAC has supplied the Kingaroy Ambulance Station with hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment over the years, including training mannequins, text books and other aids.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
