A number of major bridges around the region remain closed after suffering damage in the weekend floods.<\/p>\n

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said repairs to the pavement on Krebs Bridge, south of Murgon, were in progress.<\/p>\n

It was hoped the bridge would reopen on Thursday, or if not, on Friday.<\/p>\n

Travellers from Murgon or Cherbourg can reach Kingaroy or Wondai via Murgon-Barambah Road and the Burnett Highway.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said Kingaroy-Barkers Creek Road was now passable, although water was over the road. Lees Bridge has passed inspection.<\/p>\n

This means drivers can now travel to Kingaroy via Kingaroy-Barkers Creek Road rather than driving into Nanango.<\/p>\n

Byee Road is still closed as water is over the bridge and is not expected to reopen until Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

A Gympie Regional Council spokesperson said Bells Bridge on the Wide Bay Highway had received significant damage to the railing and deck.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Floodwaters dropped enough for crews to assess the condition of the bridge on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

The Council spokesperson said the bridge would remain closed until repairs could be made.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, travellers from Goomeri and Kilkivan have been advised they can still reach Gympie via Gympie-Wooloolga Road into Widgee.<\/p>\n

From Widgee, continue into Gordon Street, Betts Street and Glastonbury Road into Southside.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
