South Burnett Regional Council has warned that Krebs Bridge, near Murgon, may not re-open until Thursday.<\/p>\n

Video captured by a local resident on Saturday captured slabs of bitumen pavement being lifted up by the floodwaters.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group warned on Sunday evening that\u00a0flooding will continue across the region, particularly along Barkers Creek and Barambah Creek.<\/p>\n

At this stage it is expected that the Burnett Highway will re-open Monday afternoon following Department of Transport and Main Roads bridge inspections and repairs.<\/p>\n

The Bunya Highway at Krebs Bridge and access to Cherbourg is expected to be cut until at least Tuesday afternoon with the peak spill from Bjelke-Petersen Dam expected tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said the Bjelke-Petersen Dam level was 127 per cent.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Please note that Council is aware that there is extensive damage to Krebs Bridge, and it is likely that it will not re-open until sometime Thursday,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“It is expected that the extensive damage to the road network will take weeks and months to repair, particularly following back-to-back weather events from Ex-Tropical Cyclone Seth.<\/p>\n

“The community is asked to report road damage to (07) 4189-9100.”<\/p>\n
