It’s starting to feel a lot like rugby league season, with players trying out for South Burnett schoolboy sides on Wednesday, and junior Eagles teams heading out to Charleville at the end of the week.<\/p>\n

Junior players from five local schools – Nanango, Murgon and Kingaroy State High Schools, Goomeri P-10 State School and St Mary’s Catholic College – were being put through their paces under watchful eyes on Wednesday afternoon at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

They undertook a series of drills before playing scratch games to show off their skills.<\/p>\n

The players selected will be playing in schoolboys competitions later this year.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, South Burnett Eagles Under 14s and Under 16s will be heading out west to compete in the two-day\u00a0Adrian Vowles Cup at the Charleville Showgrounds and Baker Street Oval.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Friday, the U14s will be matched up against Central Highlands, followed by Toowoomba Brothers.<\/p>\n

The U16s will take on Mitchell and then Mt Isa.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, each of the teams will play three games:\u00a0U14s will face Souths, Carnarvon Cubs and Central West; while the U16s will take on Norths, St George and Central West.<\/p>\n

Under 16s:<\/strong> Cain Coutts, Ben O’Shannesy, Casey Jones, Mathaniel Cuthbertson, Rylee Edwards, Charlie Sippel, Liam Irwin, Clary Cavanagh, Dustin Ramke, Tommy Beil, Harrison Braithwaite, Ty Weekes, Rory Crumpton, Nick Webb, Tom Larsen, Corey McIntyre, Brett Watcho-Page and Fletcher Prain.<\/p>\n

Under 14s:<\/strong> Any Coutts, Ryan Wallace, Darren Anderson, Levi Kurz, Lawson Braithwaite, Rainer Heard, Riley Gliech, Alistair Funnell, Harry Ballin, Lachlan Ralston, Mervyn Law, Brayden Watch-Page, Mitchell Prain, Isiah Smallwood and Jack Maudsley.<\/p>\n

The Live Team plans to broadcast some of the games online<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Footnote: The\u00a0Adrian Vowles Cup was the brainchild of a former Cunnamulla and Charleville footballer who played State of Origin for Queensland, for the Gold Coast Seagulls in the Winfield Cup and for the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL, before heading to Great Britain to play Super League and represent Scotland.<\/em><\/p>\n
