Visit South Burnett (VSB) will be unveiling the final version of the region’s new tourism website in the next six to eight weeks.<\/p>\n

The project, developed by VSB Tourism Officer Melanie Eastaugh over the past six months, covers Linville, Yarraman, Cherbourg and Goomeri as well as all towns in the South Burnett Regional Council area.<\/p>\n

Melanie gave VSB members a preview of the new design at last Thursday night’s monthly meet’n’greet, which was held at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery’s Studio.<\/p>\n

She said that while the new site works in all screen resolutions from mobile phones to desktops, the emphasis was on producing a site that was very “mobile-friendly”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We believe most visitors will be accessing this site from their phone as they move around the region,” Melanie said.<\/p>\n

“So the way we’ve designed it means that they can find out where to stay, where to eat and what to visit with just a few clicks.”<\/p>\n

The site also covers a slightly broader area than the South Burnett Regional Council’s borders.<\/p>\n

This is because research has shown that most tourists regard everything from the foot of the Blackbutt Range through to Goomeri as being part of “the same thing”.<\/p>\n

The site also gives preference to VSB members in its business listings, however, VSB hopes ultimately to list all local tourism businesses.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Kingaroy’s BaconFest will return this year after an enforced two-year layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n

BaconFest committee member Gail Gibson told the meeting the festival hoped to be make its third outing in August.<\/p>\n

However, guests will be asked to pay $6 per day this year to attend, or $15 per day for families.<\/p>\n

The charge will not apply to guests who book tickets to the Wine and Swine dinner that launches the event, or the Long Table Breakfast on the festival’s final day.<\/p>\n

Tickets to both events can be booked online later this year.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Wondai Country Running Festival will be holding its annual dinner at Wondai Town Hall on June 25.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Popular local entertainers Sue Bradley and Geoff Grevell will be providing music and the licensed, $28-a-head dinner will have a “Winter’s Night Country Dinner” theme.<\/p>\n

The weekend-long event – which attracts hundreds of runners from all over south-east Queensland – will be celebrating its fifth outing this year.<\/p>\n

Race registrations and dinner ticket bookings can be made through the Festival’s website<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

VSB’s next meet’n’greet will be held at Allan and Mandy Evans’ Bunya Red Farm at 544 Wattlegrove Road in Inverlaw on March 7.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bunya Red Farm is an award-winning caper producer, and the evening will kick off with a farm tour at 5:30pm which will give guests an insight into how capers are grown and harvested.<\/p>\n
