{"id":313515,"date":"2022-02-17T17:13:50","date_gmt":"2022-02-17T07:13:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=313515"},"modified":"2022-02-17T20:32:04","modified_gmt":"2022-02-17T10:32:04","slug":"local-covid-cases-break-800","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2022\/02\/17\/local-covid-cases-break-800\/","title":{"rendered":"Local COVID Cases Break 800"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>February 17, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The South Burnett\u2019s official COVID-19 tally of confirmed cases since the pandemic began has broken the 800 barrier.<\/p>\n<p>Queensland Health\u2019s latest statistics show 803 people have been recorded in the region as having had COVID-19; at December 13 this figure was three.<\/p>\n<p>This is NOT the number of active cases \u2013 many people have recovered \u2013 but there have been more than 140 cases added to the total since February 1.<\/p>\n<p>It is also\u00a0underestimated as health officials believe not all people are reporting their positive RAT tests (despite urging to do so) and some people have had a very mild illness which they have not recognised as COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council announced one new case in the community, with 16 people in isolation.<\/p>\n<p>Cherbourg&#8217;s total number of cases since December 13 is now 301.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_107929\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-107929\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/yvettedath.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-107929\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/yvettedath.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"228\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-107929\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Health Minister Yvette D&#8217;Ath<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>A shocking 39 deaths with COVID-19 were announced by Health Minister Yvette D&#8217;Ath and Chief Health Officer Dr John Gerrard at Thursday morning&#8217;s media update, but they both emphasised these had not all occurred in the past 24 hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Twenty-seven of the deaths extended as far back as January 17.<\/p>\n<p>The increase in numbers was the result of reconciling data supplied by the Department of Births, Deaths &amp; Data is reported by Queensland Health daily but can vary over time due to case reviews. When we took the first snapshots, Cherbourg LGA had not been added to the list by Qld Health as no cases had been recorded there. From December 31, data is current to 7:00pm the previous day.\u00a0Numbers for all regions must also be considered underestimated. Not everyone who has tested positive using a Rapid Antigen Test has reported their result to Queensland Health. Not everyone who has had a mild dose of the disease has been tested.
