Ex-service and community organisations have been encouraged to apply for a share in $3.5\u00a0million in Federal Government grants through the latest round of the “Saluting Their Service”\u00a0program.<\/p>\n

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien said applications were now open for up to $10,000 for smaller, community-based projects and activities, while major grants of up to $150,000 could be awarded to projects that were significant from a national, State, Territory or regional perspective.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese grants can be used to support a range of projects that will help preserve (our) wartime history and reflect our rich military history, from new memorials and refurbishments to exhibitions and publications,\u201d Mr O\u2019Brien said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWide Bay is home to some remarkable memorials that are among the best in Australia, and this funding is an opportunity to build new ways of commemorating the sacrifices made by those who have served in defence of our nation, from all communities in our region.”<\/p>\n

Veterans\u2019 Affairs Minister Andrew Gee said the Federal Government had committed an extra $10 million to the ongoing program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Saluting Their Service program has seen hundreds of worthy projects across Australia funded in recent years, to help local communities pay tribute to Australians who have served during wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations,\u201d Minister Gee said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe program ensures Australia\u2019s wartime history is preserved and the sacrifice of those who have served is remembered.\u201d<\/p>\n

Assessment of applications is divided into three batches: applications submitted between February 9 and June 9, 2022; between June 10 and October 11, 2022; and between October 12, 2022, and February 7, 2023.<\/p>\n

This allows organisations to submit multiple applications throughout the year.<\/p>\n
