{"id":313077,"date":"2022-02-09T13:16:59","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T03:16:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=313077"},"modified":"2022-02-10T19:21:22","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T09:21:22","slug":"cricketers-bowled-over-by-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2022\/02\/09\/cricketers-bowled-over-by-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Cricketers Bowled Over By Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_313078\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-313078\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20220208cricket1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-313078 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20220208cricket1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20220208cricket1.jpg 740w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20220208cricket1-300x186.jpg 300w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20220208cricket1-269x167.jpg 269w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20220208cricket1-285x177.jpg 285w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20220208cricket1-340x211.jpg 340w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20220208cricket1-263x163.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-313078\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Karen Wall, from Stanwell, with junior coaches Justin McCarthy and Jamie Harmsworth and project manager Cameron Watson on the River Road cricket pitch installed by the South Burnett Regional Council &#8230; a grant from Stanwell will now make the park even safer for young cricketers<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>February 8, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stage 3 of the junior cricket redevelopment at River Road Park in Kingaroy will start soon, thanks to a $30,000 grant from Stanwell\u2019s Tarong Community Partnership Fund.<\/p>\n<p>The grant will allow fencing to be installed around three sides of the park to improve safety and reduce the risk of traffic-related accidents.<\/p>\n<p>However, full public access will be maintained.<\/p>\n<p>Kingaroy Junior Cricket Association&#8217;s Cameron Watson, who has been managing the project, said the club\u00a0was very grateful for Stanwell&#8217;s support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team at Stanwell has been fantastic to work with and are genuinely supportive and encouraging of quality community projects such as this,\u201d Cameron said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing together to play sport both socially and competitively provides a unique chance for community to gather and debrief, vent and support each other, contributing to better mental health outcomes for our rural community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be fantastic to provide a safe environment for our younger cricketers to enjoy themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stanwell General Manager Southern Generation Michael Joy said it was great the funding would enable the club to install oval fencing, and importantly increase safety at the grounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know junior cricket is such an enjoyable and vital part of our South Burnett community for many local families,\u201d Mr Joy said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really pleasing that we\u2019re able to help the club continue to grow and thrive in a safe environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The fencing is the final stage of a five-year project to redevelop cricket facilities in the park to provide a quality venue for both the public and junior cricketers to enjoy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once completed, the new facilities will remain open to public use, including the cricket pitch and cricket nets.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade began when the South Burnett Regional Council renewed the centre cricket pitch, installing a new and wider synthetic pitch.<\/p>\n<p>The Kingaroy Junior Cricket Association then sourced $35,000 funding from the State Government\u2019s Gambling Community Benefit Fund and $21,000 from the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund\u00a0to install new cricket practice nets.
