The Queensland Youth Parliament is seeking someone from the Nanango electorate to join it this year.<\/p>\n

Every year, one young person aged 15-25 is selected from every electorate in Queensland to form the Queensland Youth Parliament and debate important issues.<\/p>\n

Queensland Youth Parliament co-ordinator Daniel Patava said the program was an incredible chance for any young Queenslander wanting to make a difference.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“(This) is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for young people across the State to present Bills in Queensland\u2019s Parliament House, debate issues of importance to them, gain firsthand experience of being a Member of Parliament, and proudly represent their electorate,” he said.<\/p>\n

“There are so many young people today who are extremely passionate about issues of concern to them.<\/p>\n

“They want their voices heard and this is a fantastic avenue to instigate the change they want to see.<\/p>\n

“Anyone aged 15-25 with a passion for change can nominate for the YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament.<\/p>\n

“We are looking for enthusiastic young people who want to use their voice to make a positive impact.”<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said this type of opportunity encouraged young people to “get involved” and learn how they can initiate change to tackle issues and help improve our communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAll Youth Members are involved in committee meetings, mentoring, training and research to help produce the Bills to be debated at Parliament House during the residential week in Brisbane from September 25 to October 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cApplications for the 2022 program close on 20th February, so I would encourage anyone interested to get in quick.<\/p>\n

\u201cYouth Parliament teaches young people about the government decision-making process, while providing an excellent leadership opportunity for those who may one day become our future decision makers.”<\/p>\n

The 2022 Youth Governor of Queensland Portia Allison described the Queensland Youth Parliament as one of the most important youth programs in the State.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“No other program allows you to experience life as a parliamentarian quite like this one. You learn a lot about yourself and the parliamentary system,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Those selected across the State in 2022 will embark on a year-long program of Bill writing, community engagement and personal development.<\/p>\n

“Youth Parliament also forges strong friendships through teamwork, community outreach and many fun experiences.”<\/p>\n

YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament is an accredited education program supported by the State Government, and students can receive credit towards their Queensland Certificate of Education upon completion.<\/p>\n
