January 9, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two people were injured – one seriously – after a large tree snapped suddenly, crushing their car on the Bunya Mountains Road on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the incident just after 9:30am, east of Munro’s Camp.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival they found the male driver pinned by a large branch inside his vehicle.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews worked for almost two hours to cut him free.<\/p>\n

His wife, who was a passenger in the car, suffered only minor injuries.<\/p>\n

An RACQ LifeFlight helicopter landed a few hundred metres from the incident to assist.<\/p>\n

The LifeFlight critical care doctor, QAS flight paramedic and local QAS paramedics treated the man at the scene for multiple traumatic injuries.<\/p>\n

He was then transferred by ambulance to the rescue helicopter before being airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.<\/p>\n

His wife was airlifted to the same hospital in a stable condition.<\/p>\n

At 2:45pm, all traffic on the Bunya Mountains Road near the incident was still blocked.<\/p>\n
