The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group moved to “Lean Forward” status on Thursday in response to the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working with all\u00a0 the emergency services regarding the positive cases in Cherbourg and the South Burnett region,” LDMG chair Cr Roz Frohloff said.<\/p>\n

“The Local Disaster Management Group are now moving into ‘Lean Forward’ which is the second stage in the State Government\u2019s disaster management progression<\/a><\/strong> moving towards recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cr Frohloff urged residents to check the Queensland Health and Council website<\/a> <\/strong>and social media pages for information.<\/p>\n

“All information is up-to-date and correct at the time the time of publishing on these sites and it should be noted that this is a fast-moving and continually changing situation,” she said.<\/p>\n

Cr Frohloff said there were some steps that everyone should take to ensure safety of the community.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“As we would in a flood or other natural disaster, you should not panic,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Ask yourself, ‘Do I have enough supply of necessary medications should I need to self-isolate for seven days?’<\/p>\n

“Purchase only what you need to ensure there is sufficient for everyone \u2013 this includes milk, meat, vegetables, fruit and toilet paper.<\/p>\n

“Consider your pets’ needs should you need to self-isolate.<\/p>\n

“Don\u2019t forget to check in on friends and relatives, particularly the older and health impaired in our area. If they are self-isolating, do they need any assistance?<\/p>\n

“It is essential to remember the advice to date of promoting social distancing measures, wearing of masks and good hygiene measures including regularly washing your hands, sanitising and the like.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“If you are showing any signs or symptoms, please make contact with Queensland Health to arrange a COVID-19 test. Ring 13-42-68 to talk to Queensland Health and arrange your test at one of the testing sites.”<\/p>\n

Testing sites are at\u00a0Nanango,\u00a0Murgon, Cherbourg and Kingaroy hospitals; and QML Pathology Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

“Monitor your health and if you show any signs of symptoms or are a close contact, you should follow Queensland Health direction, be tested and isolate until you receive your test results,” Cr Frohloff said.<\/p>\n

“Please be aware that Queensland Health is Lead Agency, so you should check their website<\/a> <\/strong>for details.<\/p>\n

“Please limit non-essential travel and unless you MUST travel, it is in everyone\u2019s best interests to stay at home.”<\/p>\n
