Heritage Community Branch Nanango’s 20th birthday celebrations took a colourful turn on Saturday morning with a special “rainbow run” along the Ros Gregor Trail.<\/p>\n

Runners registered online for the opportunity to get five shades of chalk thrown at them as they negotiated the 1.8km long course and back.<\/p>\n

Their reward? Clean shirts spattered in multi-colours plus ice blocks and plenty of smiles!<\/p>\n

Run organiser Skye Douglass said 165 runners had pre-registered but a few more had turned up on the morning.<\/p>\n

It was difficult to work out who was having more fun, the runners dodging chalk or the people throwing out the colours.<\/p>\n

The rainbow run was the start of the Heritage birthday celebrations, which continued with a sausage sizzle on Monday (see below) and will culminate with a monster fireworks display at the Nanango Christmas Carnival in Pioneer Park on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Runners had to negotiate a gauntlet of colour stations as they covered the 3.6km run …<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Monday Celebrations<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Heritage Community Branch Nanango’s celebrations continued on Monday with a free sausage sizzle and cupcakes outside the bank on the corner of Fitzroy and Drayton streets.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The celebration was also broadcast live on CROW-FM, and it drew a bumper crowd all morning.<\/p>\n

A crew of volunteers from Nanango’s Men’s Shed manned the barbecue, serving up about 300 sausage sizzle sandwiches and dispensing an equal number of soft drinks to guests, who were also invited to inspect the recently redecorated interior of the bank.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, they could enjoy a piece of the branch’s “birthday cake” which (for convenience) were miniature cupcakes freshly prepared for the day by AJ\u2019s Cakes.<\/p>\n

Branch staff were on hand to answer any banking questions, and members of Heritage Nanango Community Funding (HNCF) were also on hand to discuss the branch’s community funding program, which has returned more than $4.5 million to the town’s community groups over the past two decades.<\/p>\n

HNCF chair Wendy Zerbst said she was delighted with the roll-up.<\/p>\n

Wendy said she was now looking forward to the town’s Christmas Carnival in Pioneer Park this Thursday night (December 18), which will cap off the week-long birthday celebration.<\/p>\n

Heritage are major sponsors of the event, and this year they’ll also be sponsoring a bigger-than-usual fireworks display to ring in the festive season and the start of the branch’s third decade of operations.<\/p>\n
