Cr Kathy Duff has been sitting on Santa’s knee at Hivesville’s Christmas Fair for so many years that it’s become a local tradition … and 2021 was no exception<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

December 13, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

Santa hitched a ride to Hivesville on Sunday night aboard a North Pole fire truck … are there really bushfires at the North Pole?<\/p>\n

The North Coast (oops North Pole) brigade vehicle meant Santa arrived with sirens blaring and lights flashing, much to the delight of the local children who crowded around the man in red.<\/p>\n

Hivesville’s annual Christmas celebration in Memorial Park is organised by the Hivesville Progress Association.<\/p>\n

There was a sausage sizzle and soft drinks, plus small gifts for the children.<\/p>\n

Christmas-themed music was provided by local members of the Seventh-day Adventist church.<\/p>\n

Cr Kathy Duff, South Burnett Mayor Brett Otto and Progress Association president Barbara Hockey decorated the park’s famous bottle tree with Christmas lights to add a little more sparkle to the occasion.<\/p>\n

Adults enjoyed a balmy night in the park, catching up with friends as the children ran around and played.<\/p>\n

But the highlight, of course, was the arrival of Father Christmas who listened patiently as the children presented their wish lists …<\/p>\n

Footnote:<\/strong> southburnett.com.au arrived a little early for the celebration only to find Mayor Otto and Cr Duff hard at work. Apparently, the recent rain had caused the park’s grass to take off, and the pair volunteered to mow and whipper snip the area to make it presentable for the night’s activities. Who would want to be a councillor?\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
