South Burnett Regional Council has given the green light for the $1.6 million upgrade to the Blackbutt CBD streetscape and footpath areas.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said the project would deliver revitalisation to the Blackbutt CBD precinct with new infrastructure including kerb and channelling, textured and coloured footpath areas, bike racks, pedestrian seating, landscaping and trees.<\/p>\n

Blackbutt’s town heritage and connection to the timber industry will also be acknowledged.<\/p>\n

An example of the decorative surfacing for Blackbutt\u2019s new footpath will be showcased by Council on the bike rack facility in Les Muller Park.<\/p>\n

The surface coating is scheduled to be completed this month.<\/p>\n

As the Federal Government has extended the project’s deadline until June, Council has taken the opportunity to readvertise the project\u2019s works contract.<\/p>\n

This also means the project will not be completed before Christmas, as originally hoped.<\/p>\n

The procurement process is expected to be finalised by February.<\/p>\n

The upgrade has been funded under the Federal Government\u2019s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and Council\u2019s Capital Works program for 2021-2022.<\/p>\n
