Members of the Kingaroy and District Vintage Machinery Club are feeling very grateful … and they gathered together on Sunday to show it.<\/p>\n

First up, the club members wanted to thank the South Burnett Regional Council for a community grant of $1890.<\/p>\n

They used the cash injection to buy a new two-door drinks fridge which replaces a couple of very old domestic refrigerators which have been working hard to service the clubhouse.<\/p>\n

The new drinks fridge will come into its own when the club hosts the massive Queensland Heritage Rally next year at their grounds in Butwell Park.<\/p>\n

This event is expected to attract between 6000 and 10,000 people to Kingaroy between September 16-18.<\/p>\n

The second thank you was to members of the now-dissolved Motors In Motion Inc for handing over a number of resources to the club.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Motors In Motion Inc (formerly Peanut Festival Inc) ran a popular event at the nearby Kingaroy Airport between 2011-14 before organising the first Wondai Sprints in 2016.<\/p>\n

The last Kingaroy Peanut Festival was held in 2009.<\/p>\n

The Sprints ran every year until 2020, when it was cancelled due to the drought and the inability to secure hay bales.<\/p>\n

This proved to be a timely decision because just weeks later the COVID-19 pandemic struck and the event would have had to be cancelled anyway.<\/p>\n

Motors In Motion Inc voted to wind up the association in May following the retirement of key members, rising costs and difficulties in sourcing materials.<\/p>\n

In line with their Constitution, the committee voted to pass on their assets to two other like-minded community groups, the Proston Car Rally Club and the Kingaroy and District Vintage Machinery Club (KDVMC).<\/p>\n

KDVMC inherited concrete and steel barriers, grandstands, a zero-turn ride-on mower and sundry other items including fire extinguishers and signs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“It was also in appreciation for the assistance that (now KDVMC vice-president) Matt Lonsdale and other members of the club gave us for the Sprints,” former Motors In Motion president Denis Carroll said.<\/p>\n

“We are especially pleased that the benefits from the work of all our volunteers and members is staying in the South Burnett.”<\/p>\n
