Toowoomba Regional Council has urged motorists to be safe, saying there are still about 30 road closures in place around the region.<\/p>\n

Mayor Paul Antonio said a number of local creeks had begun to recede but some roads were still closed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt may appear that some roads and bridges are safe to cross when there is little water on the surface however, we need to check whether there is any structural damage before we re-open these to the public,” the Mayor said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease obey the signage. It is impossible for Council to sign every defect and danger on the roads so please be alert and drive to the conditions and as always \u2013 if it\u2019s flooded, forget it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhile conditions have improved, some communities remain isolated, such as Cecil Plains. To ensure the community is taken care of, along with QFES, we\u2019ve conducted air-support, delivering essential supplies for our residents.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the weekend coming up, we continue to ask residents to be careful on the roads.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have crews out and about over the weekend with additional resources on standby should they be needed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is more rain forecast for next week so please plan ahead and ensure you are prepared for any future rain event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re also encouraging people to let us know of any damaged roads they come across, as this helps us prioritise repairs and divert crews to the appropriate areas.\u201d<\/p>\n
