Legislation will be introduced into State Parliament to plan and control the development of a massive new urban area at Caboolture West.<\/p>\n

The area has been identified by the State Government as south-east Queensland’s largest greenfield site where about 30,000 homes could be built housing 70,000 people.<\/p>\n

Deputy Premier Steven Miles said up to nine primary schools and four secondary schools as well as a major State transport corridor were among the key facilities and amenities that would be needed to support the new urban development.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis expected urban and population growth in the new Priority Growth Area is comparable to the current population of the city of Mackay,\u201d Mr Miles said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs such getting the planning right is vital to ensure supporting infrastructure such as roads and schools are delivered.<\/p>\n

\u201cState Cabinet has approved the preparation of a Bill to formally recognise Caboolture West as a Priority Growth Area. Planning regulations will also be amended so work keeps progressing on delivering the first 3000 homes along with all the new infrastructure they require.<\/p>\n

\u201cCaboolture West will ultimately be a major regional urban centre that will support 17,000 jobs and have many social benefits including new health care facilities, schools, open space, transport and plenty of new homes for Queenslanders.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
