The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) moved to “stand up” status on Tuesday following the recent heavy rainfall in the region.<\/p>\n

The LDMG met on Wednesday morning and planned to meet again in the afternoon to discuss localised flooding in the region.<\/p>\n

Chair Cr Roz Frohloff said emergency services and Council workers had attended a number of incidents involving road closures and\u00a0damage to property over the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Council crews have been working hard to ensure safety hazards on roads were protected or repaired temporarily while damage assessment was undertaken.<\/p>\n

Cr Frohloff said the\u00a0South Burnett Disaster Dashboard continues to operate with road closures listed and updated by Council and\u00a0Queensland Police as information was provided.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, Council monitors more than 3000km of road network and conditions will change regularly and quickly,\u00a0therefore Council and police are unable to inspect the entire network.<\/p>\n

“Inspections are prioritised and the LDMG encourages the community to report all road conditions to Council on (07) 4189-9100,” Cr Frohloff said.<\/p>\n

Police have advised residents not to drive or walk through floodwater and avoid unnecessary travel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If residents must\u00a0travel, drive to the prevailing road conditions, obey the signs and do not drive through floodwater.<\/p>\n

Drivers should not expect see warnings signs for every crossing, given the widespread impact of the rain.<\/p>\n
