Don’t panic, but do you realise it’s less than four weeks to Christmas Day?<\/p>\n

We know the South Burnett’s starting to get festive when Christmas carnivals begin to pop up … it was Goomeri’s turn last Saturday, and Kumbia’s on this Sunday!<\/p>\n

The other annual event that marks Christmas in the South Burnett is the Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon.<\/p>\n

Diners paid $25 each to gather in Kingaroy Town Hall on Tuesday to enjoy the charity lunch, served up by volunteers from local QCWA branches.<\/p>\n

Raffles added to the profits, which will be donated to South Burnett families in need this Christmas.<\/p>\n

Local singing sensation Julee-anne Bell provided the Christmas music on stage, while CROW-FM’s Matt Collins compered.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guest speaker was Australian Olympian Matthew Denny who came in fourth spot in the discus throw at this year’s Tokyo Olympics.<\/p>\n

Matthew threw a personal best in the final round but just missed out on a podium spot.<\/p>\n

Cr Danita Potter quizzed Matthew about his career.<\/p>\n

He spoke about the disappointment of losing and bouncing back, resilience and the development of pathways for young rural athletes.<\/p>\n
