November 26, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

Flash flooding in Dingo Creek at Wondai cut the Bunya Highway on Friday night, leaving motorists stranded.<\/p>\n

Rapidly rising water from the creek cut the highway on both sides of the town about 7:30pm.<\/p>\n

The flash flooding also impacted the Wondai Sportsground with reports people had to be helped to leave the Lions Pavilion.<\/p>\n

Rising water also cut a number of other roads in the region, including the Wondai-Proston Road which was blocked just after the Byee turn-off.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emergency services – including a swift water rescue crew – were called out at 7:05pm to Tingoora to rescue the occupants of a vehicle caught on Tingoora-Chelmsford Road.<\/p>\n

A QAS spokesperson said the pair\u00a0were uninjured and did not require transport to hospital.<\/p>\n

Roads were also cut in the Cooyar-Nutgrove area.<\/p>\n

At 9:30pm, the Bunya Highway was still blocked.<\/strong><\/p>\n

UPDATE:<\/strong> At 10:35pm, police were directing traffic through on the Tingoora side, but the Murgon side was still closed.<\/p>\n

UPDATE<\/strong>: At 11:10pm, the highway was open on both sides of Wondai.<\/p>\n
