This week’s rain will delay the reopening of Kingaroy’s Haly Street for a few more days.<\/p>\n

On Friday afternoon, the South Burnett Regional Council advised that while staff had originally hoped to have most Kingaroy Transformation Project (KTP) roadworks in Haly Street completed by November 25, rain had derailed this plan.<\/p>\n

Council workers will now close Haly Street to traffic from 4:00pm on Sunday, November 28 to 6:00am on Monday, November 29; and again from 6:00pm Monday evening to 6:00am Tuesday, November 30.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Council has been undertaking work on Haly Street between Youngman and Kingaroy streets throughout November as part of the KTP project.<\/p>\n

This work has involved replacing underground infrastructure – much of it 70 years old – and reforming the street’s layout.<\/p>\n

While pedestrian access to businesses on Haly Street has been maintained throughout, road traffic has had to be restricted or blocked on some occasions.<\/p>\n

Council has also carried out night works in a bid to minimise disruption.<\/p>\n

In a report due to be presented at next week’s Infrastructure Standing Committee meeting, officers forecast work teams will finalise the road in the last week of November and new concrete footpaths were expected to be finished by Tuesday, December 7. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The progressive reopening of the road and parking is expected to occur from November 30, if weather permits.<\/p>\n

After this, KTP workers will be taking a festive season break before attention turns to Kingaroy Street, where water mains works are scheduled to begin in early January.<\/p>\n
