The “bitumen bandits” who have been working their way around Queensland of late appear to have landed again in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council warned on Friday that false tradespeople, claiming to work for the Kingaroy Transformation Project, were offering a bitumen laying service with “leftover product”.<\/p>\n

“South Burnett residents and businesses are advised that neither Council nor KTP contractors would approach anyone within the region with unsolicited services, and these false tradespeople have no affiliation with the KTP or South Burnett Regional Council,” a Council spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“The vehicles of the scammers are reported to have South Australian number plates, and the bitumen work is of poor to no standard with some South Burnett locals being scammed already.<\/p>\n

“South Burnett residents and businesses are urged to be cautious with the contractors you engage with and not to accept unsolicited services from anyone.<\/p>\n

The Office of Fair Trading<\/a><\/strong> has repeatedly warned residents to be alert to these scams, as have police.<\/p>\n

Report suspicious activity by calling Police on 13-14-44.<\/p>\n
