Poultry breeders who compete at the Nanango Show and members of local bird breeding associations who meet at Nanango’s Showgrounds will be now able to take advantage of a greatly improved facility.<\/p>\n

Nanango Show Society recently unveiled the upgraded Ted Neilsen Pavilion.<\/p>\n

Thanks to a $30,000 grant from Nanango’s Heritage Bank and a $5000 contribution from the Show Society, the building’s former dirt floor has been concreted; exterior slats replaced where necessary; new gates installed; and the building fully repainted.<\/p>\n

The Ted Neilsen Pavilion is named in honour of one of Nanango Show Society’s longest-serving presidents (1968-1985).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among many other accomplishments, Ted helped build up the bird and poultry sections of the annual show.<\/p>\n

Ted was awarded an Honorary Life Membership of the Show Society in 1981 in recognition of his many achievements and was invited back in 2009 to officially open the 100th Nanango Show.<\/p>\n

Ted was represented at the revamped building’s official opening by his widow, Dawn.<\/p>\n

Show Society president Les Schloss welcomed the assembled guests who had come along to inspect the upgrades and thanked Nanango’s Heritage Bank for the many contributions they have made to the showgrounds over the past 20 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Les said Heritage’s support had allowed the showgrounds to steadily upgrade its facilities, and create events such as The Waterhole Rocks and the Nanango Country Music Muster that now regularly draw thousands of visitors to town each year.<\/p>\n
