Kingaroy’s new Big Peanut sculpture will soon acknowledge all the people who helped create it.<\/p>\n

The statue, created by metal sculptor Kane Minogue using pieces of old farming equipment donated by local farming families, was finally installed in Kingaroy’s Lions Park on November 4 after several months of delays caused by border closures.<\/p>\n

The installation marked the end of a four-year effort by the Kingaroy Needs A Big Peanut Committee to turn the project from a dream into reality.<\/p>\n

At last week’s Community Standing Committee meeting, South Burnett councillors unanimously approved the signs that will soon be attached to the statue’s base plinth.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two of the signs acknowledge the support of major project sponsors PCA (owned by Bega) and G. Crumpton & Sons.<\/p>\n

A third sign will list all the community sponsors who contributed to the project, along with a permanent acknowledgement of the Kingaroy Needs A Big Peanut Committee.<\/p>\n

The signs were designed by the Kingaroy Needs A Big Peanut Committee in consultation with the major sponsors, and the motion to adopt them was moved by Cr Danita Potter, seconded by Cr Kirstie Schumacher and approved unanimously.<\/p>\n

CEO Mark Pitt was delegated the task of getting the plaques installed.<\/p>\n

He has also been tasked with arranging an official opening for the statue, which is expected to occur later this year or early next.<\/p>\n
