There’s some exciting things happening currently at the Kingaroy Netball Association.<\/p>\n

It’s the off-season for junior players but that hasn’t stopped the action on the courts, with nine weeks of mixed games running on Friday nights for junior players.<\/p>\n

Junior co-ordinator Jodie Springhall said the games – for children aged 11-14 – had been started as an opportunity to keep the youngsters interested in playing during the break.<\/p>\n

But it was also a good way to judge what interest there would be from young male players.<\/p>\n

“It’s just a social game, but the kids are really enjoying it,” she said.<\/p>\n

Jodie said there had been a lot more interest in men’s netball recently, particularly at a national level.<\/p>\n

There’s even a push to include it in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Netball Association president Hayley McAnally also showed southburnett.com.au the work which is happening at the southern end of the Fisher Street courts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Excess soil from the Kingaroy Transformation Project has been used to fill the grassed area, and Kingaroy business ConPak Excavation and Earthmoving have been levelling and packing the surface.<\/p>\n

“We are very appreciative of the help from Council,” she said.<\/p>\n

This area will become the club’s new car park area initially, but there are bigger plans in the wings.<\/p>\n

Hayley said the long-term plan was to build four more courts.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Netball hopes to apply for grants to turn this project into a reality.<\/p>\n
