The State Government has broken an election promise to deliver a full feasibility study about the Bradfield Scheme, according to Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington.<\/p>\n

The Bradfield Regional Assessment and Development Panel – an independent expert panel which was set up to advise on the viability of a modern Bradfield-like scheme – was due to report back to the government in September.<\/p>\n

The panel is chaired by Prof Ross Garnaut and includes representatives from the Queensland Farmers’ Federation, James Cook University, and the Co-operative Research Centre for Developing Northern Australia.<\/p>\n

Shadow Minister for Water Deb Frecklington said the failure was proof Labor does not take water security seriously.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn September 2020 the State Government said this report would be done within a year,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhere is it? Labor has missed their own target.<\/p>\n

\u201cWater restrictions are on our doorstop and the State Government\u2019s lack of long-term planning is coming back to the haunt them.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Minister for Water needs to show some leadership and tell Queenslanders what plans they have for water security, where dams will be built and when the Bradfield Scheme feasibility study will be released to the public.\u201d<\/p>\n
