{"id":309216,"date":"2021-11-11T15:52:16","date_gmt":"2021-11-11T05:52:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=309216"},"modified":"2021-11-11T22:44:26","modified_gmt":"2021-11-11T12:44:26","slug":"pink-power-raises-almost-9000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2021\/11\/11\/pink-power-raises-almost-9000\/","title":{"rendered":"Pink Power Raises Almost $9000"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_309217\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-309217\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/20211111pinking.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-309217 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/20211111pinking.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/20211111pinking.jpg 740w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/20211111pinking-300x186.jpg 300w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/20211111pinking-269x167.jpg 269w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/20211111pinking-285x177.jpg 285w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/20211111pinking-340x211.jpg 340w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/20211111pinking-263x163.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-309217\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cr Kathy Duff, Cr Danita Potter and McGrath breast care nurse Sue Cox banked the takings from donation tins on Thursday before tallying up the total raised<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>November 11, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s Pinking Up The South Burnett fundraiser has raised nearly $9000 for the McGrath Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The organisers of the promotion &#8211; McGrath breast care nurse Sue Cox, Cr Danita Potter and Cr Kathy Duff &#8211; totted up the donations on Thursday afternoon &#8211; with more possibly yet to come in.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third year the group has run the charity promotion, which encourages towns and businesses to &#8220;pink up&#8221; and hold special pink fundraising events during October.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Totals so far:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yarraman Line Dancers &#8211; $3144<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kingaroy Lions Club &#8211; $500<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Nanango Lions Club &#8211; $500<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Proston Golf Club &#8211; $1530<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Karinya Nanango &#8211; $620.10<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Murgon Bakery &#8211; $279.55 (in three donation tins)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Hivesville Hotel &#8211; $56.95<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Royal Hotel Trivia Night, Murgon &#8211; $860<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kumbia Races &#8211; $1000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kingaroy Junior Cricket Pink Stumps Day &#8211; $300<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Cr Potter said this had been the most successful year yet for the Pinking Up fundraiser.<\/p>\n<p>The first year about $2000 was raised with about $3000 last year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The McGrath Foundation funds breast care nurses across Australia who work with breast cancer patients and their families.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the South Burnett, this means Sue Cox.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, Sue has 110 women on her books, including women who have recovered from cancer but are \u201cnegotiating their new normal\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She said was very impressed with the amount of money raised this year and the events which had been held.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s important to remember that the money raised comes back to this district.
