Round 3 of local MP Deb Frecklington’s “Year 12 School Leavers Bursary” is now open for applications.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said the $1000 bursary was a way she could support the region\u2019s school leavers as they made the next step in their education journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is always a major step for our Year 12 school leavers who must travel away for TAFE,\u00a0university or other training and this bursary is one way I can help support them on this journey,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bursary aims to provide financial assistance with the costs associated with moving to their\u00a0place of learning, tools, the purchase of books, IT or other necessary requirements.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt provides me with an opportunity to show my support for young people who are passionate\u00a0about furthering their skills and education, and who may not otherwise be able to afford to live away from home.”<\/p>\n

Applications are now open to students who live in the Nanango Electorate and will close on February 1.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cFive applicants will be shortlisted and the successful recipient will be selected through a panel\u00a0interview in early February,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year\u2019s winner was Olivia Almond who graduated from Kingaroy State High School and\u00a0needed to move to Brisbane to take up her Bachelor of Vision Science degree. <\/p>\n

“Olivia was able to use the Bursary with the costs associated with moving from her home at Pimpimbudgee to\u00a0her new accommodation in Brisbane.\u201d<\/p>\n
